The name, Stroma Liqueur, was inspired by an island just off of the rugged coast of Caithness. Originating from the Norse phrase “island in the stream” the Isle’s name also refers to the dangerous currents on the island’s shores, currents that have ran many a ship ashore and may indeed play a role in the island being entirely deserted by humans since 1962. Stroma Liqueur remains as a lasting legacy to those hardy islanders and the tough conditions which they endured.
