In 1959, Invergordon Distillers was founded and the distillery started operations in 1961. It is located in the town Invergordon, in the far north-east of Scotland, in the Highlands. It is the only grain distillery in the Highlands, the others all being lowland operations. Invergordon Distillers went though a series of owners before being absorbed into Whyte & Mackay in 1993.
Invergordon is famous for their Coffey stills, from which some of the finest grain whisky is produced although generally only available as a single grain whisky from independent bottlers.
