700ml, 40.0% abv, Scotland (Speyside)Tomintoul, Peaty Tang, a new no-age-statement expression, is distilled in the traditional manner but unusually for a Speyside, it is crafted using peated malted barley to impart a distinctive smoky and heathery flavour. The colour of Peaty Tang is light and golden and the nose is fresh, clean and crisp. There is initial vanilla and cereal grains (think of the husks especially) before the vibrant 'peaty tang' kicks in. The peatiness is reminiscent of damp earth and has a root-like element to it. There is also a slight floral note (imagine heather) and a hint of dried fruits (particularly sultanas). On the palate, there is distinct malted barley and nuts (think of almonds) and these are joined by the vanilla and dried fruit from the nose. The 'peaty tang' is sweeter and slightly more prominent than on the nose but still has that earthy, rooty quality to it. These elements combine well with an additonal touch of saltiness and spiciness (imagine peppercorns). The overall feeling is vibrant, fresh and uncomplicated. A heavily peated whisky that is at higher than average strength and was distilled from peated malt at 35 ppm. The result is at once smoky and very fruity.

700 ml, 40.0% abv, Scotland (Speyside)Macallan have created this new range of whiskies based on colour, rather than age. 'Amber', is named after the actual colour of the whisky in the cask. It is the wood that will do the talking with this new range and that the colour picked up from the cask drives the character, with age being less important. 'Amber' is made from a combination of European and American oak first fill and refill ex sherry casks. 'Amber' has a higher percentage of first fill casks than the 'Gold'.

Nàdurra whisky is bottled and released in small batches using traditional 19th century methods, and each bottle is filled at natural cask strength. It is non-chill filtered resulting in a full-bodied, characteristically creamy feel. Nàdurra Oloroso has been matured exclusively in first fill Oloroso sherry oak casks from the Jerez region of Spain: the most highly prized and sought after casks used by whisky makers. The Nàdurra First Fill is drawn from casks made of American white oak which have never before been used to mature Scotch whisky. You’ll really taste the effects of that white oak, beautifully complemented by sweet pear, tropical pineapple, ripe banana and citric sparkle. This is a cask-strength single malt that represents the skill and the tradition of Glenlivet. Non-chill filtered, so it’s very richly textured. "Stewed and dried fruits mingle with light earth notes, wet Labrador, supple shoe leather, and varnish. A drop of water is all that’s needed to add a savory element and even some funky fruitiness reminiscent of cooking agave. The palate is big and chocolaty with some meat underneath. Hefty but elegant.
