Kilchoman’s release for travel retail, this is a 5 year old whisky matured in ex-Bourbon casks. The name comes from ‘Saligo Bay’ which is situated a couple of miles west of Kilchoman Distillery and is a small rocky inlet with golden sandy beach.
Bottled at 46% abv, non-chill filtered and no added color.
“notes of butterscotch, toffee, citrus and smoke”
Nose : Campfire smoke. Peat. Iodine. Sea salt.
Palate : Medium mouthfeel. Sweet and fruit forward. Vanilla, strawberries, raspberries. Peat is there but doesn’t come on strong until the finish.
Finish : Medium finish. The smoke and peat come pouring in. Embers and liquid smoke on the tongue. A hint of salt and spice but everything else is over whelmed by the peat smoke.
